Dear Parents, 

 

May the peace and grace of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, be a source of joy to you!

 

With about a month of school remaining, there are still many activities to take place before the final bell sounds.  Much of this newsletter is devoted to informing you about these activities, and sincerely hope you will be able to attend many of these events.

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE…The deadline to register for next year’s classes is past.  All students should have taken home a class registration form for you to approve and sign, and then it should have been returned to the counselor.  If you have NOT signed a form, please speak with your student.

 

UPCOMING ASSEMBLY… Sr. Sally Duffy will be speaking to our teaching staff at a faculty meeting on Monday, may 5th. She will speak to our students at an all-school assembly on Tuesday, May 6th.  The assembly will take place a t 8:15 a.m. in the new gymnasium. She will speak on Social Justice Issues.

 

THE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB BANQUET…will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. at GICC.  High school students, grades 9-12, who have participated in sports activities, will be the guests of honor.  Parents and other interested individuals are cordially invited to attend the ABC Banquet.  Tickets are $3.00 for elementary students and $6.00 for students and adults who are not members of the Crusader Club.  Tickets may be purchased in the school office.  A dinner will be served and a video show will provide the entertainment.  Please plan to attend.

 

SPORTS PHYSICALS…just a reminder that sports physicals are scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th at GICC for students currently in grades 7-11.  Time is 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Don’t be late or you will miss out.  Cost is $10.00.  SEE THE ENCLOSED INFORMATION SHEET AND PHYSICAL FORM.

 

SENIOR GRADUATION PRACTICE…will be at 9:01 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th during Period 2.  All seniors are required to participate in graduation practice.

 

SENIOR GRADUATION CEREMONY VIDEO… If you are interested in a copy of the Senior Graduation Ceremony Video – please let the office know before graduation. The cost is $20.00

 

SENIOR MASS, HIGH SCHOOL HONORS CONVOCATION AND SENIOR LUNCH…will be held on Friday, May 9th.  High school students only will be required to attend school on that day.  Grades 9-11 will be dismissed after the convocation, which in the past has been over at approximately 11:30 a.m.  The senior lunch will begin after the Honors Convocation concludes.  It will be held in the cafeteria for seniors and faculty only.  The day will begin at 8:12 a.m.  Students in grades 6-8 will not attend school on May 9th.

 

GRADUATION…is on Sunday, May 11th, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the new gymnasium.

 

VARIETY NITE…Don’t miss the fourth of four 7/8th grade Variety Nites scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 20th.  This is an excellent opportunity to see the middle school speech block classes in action.

 

THE MIDDLE SCHOOL HONORS CONVOCATION…for students in grades 6-8 will be held Monday, May 19, 2008.  The Awards Convocation begins at 2:00 p.m. and should conclude around the regular release time at 3:21 p.m.  ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO

ATTEND.  ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN.  Classes for students in grades 9-11 will dismiss at 1:51 p.m.

 

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL… for students in grades 6-11 is Thursday, may 22nd.  Students will be released at 12:00 p.m. (NOON)

 

MEDICATIONS…PARENTS whose children have been taking medication through the school office are asked to pick up any remaining medication at the conclusion of the school term.  Students may pick-up non-prescription medication in the office.  Prescription medication requires parent approval for the student to carry their remaining medicine home or the parent may stop in to pick up the medicine.

 

REPORT CARDS…will be available in the school office on June 2nd and 3rd.  Report cards not picked up will be mailed out on June 4th.  Report cards will not be released for those students having fines, unreturned course registrations, library books, athletic uniforms, equipment or unpaid tuition.

 

LIBRARY NOTICE…STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK OUT BOOKS AFTER MAY 1ST. The only exception will be instructor request.  Each student needs to check with Mrs. Uhrmacher for books still out on their name. Books not returned by May 15th will have to be paid for or replaced by the student before they can be signed out. Students will be notified in English/Reading classes.

 

LESSONS…Anyone interested in joining band next fall or wanting to work on Honor Band material, please see Ms. Balasa to make arrangements for summer lessons.

 

TEENS ENCOUNTER CHRIST…T.E.C. will be held at Grand Island Central Catholic August 2 - 4th.  This is for all incoming juniors and seniors. Please contact a religious studies teacher or visit this website:

REMINDER…Everyone is invited to join in the Rosary Prayer held

each Wednesday following the school Mass. We meet in the Chapel

at GICC for about 15 minutes and say the Rosary in thanksgiving and

support of our school. Rosary booklets are provided. If you have any
