Law Enforcement Torch Run
Polar Bear Plunge 2007
Freezin' for a Reason

polar2: Kearney Special Olympics hosted the Polar Bear Plunge that took place on Saturday, February 17th. It took place the the Fort Kearny Park Recreational Area in Kearney, Nebraska. This year they had to cut ice out of the lake. There was about 10 inches of ice. There was a post-plunge party at the 1st Inn Gold immediately following the event. Afterwards athletes were able to attend the Tri-City Storm Hockey game. What FUN!!!

What is the Polar Plunge? In a nutshell, participants collect pledges  from friends and family, in exchange for  jumping into icy waters in the middle of  winter.  All proceeds collected will benefit Special Olympics Nebraska.

Who Can Plunge? Anyone with a little guts and a warm  heart  wanting  to  support  the  over 3,000 intellectually disabled individuals  participating in Special Olympics Nebraska  year-round program. You can plunge as  an individual or teams up to five persons  maximum. Team themes and displays of  team spirit are encouraged. Don't worry,  changing tents and warm concessions. Participants are encouraged to register prior to the event to assure incentive prize availability but anyone interested in  plunging may come that day to participate.
